Here are my 2 netbooks:
ASUS EEE PC 701 4GB w/ webcamPROs* Very compact, thanks to the 7-inch LCD.
* Easy to fit in a bag, especially in bigger belt bags.
* Easy to skin, especially if you have a crystal case. No need for sticker skins.
* Very portable power adapter. No power brick unlike newer netbooks.
* Many available accessories (crystal case, battery, leather case, charger, etc.) and mods (touchscreen, etc.), as this is the pioneer of all netbooks.
* Many ports of entry (3 x USB, 1 x VGA, 1 x card reader, 1 x microphone jack, 1 x headphone jack)
* Expandable storage, thanks to the mini-PCIe slot (not available in all 701 units).
* EEECtl utility to adjust processor and fan speed.
* Good volume, as the speakers are located beside the LCD.
* Very sturdy netbook. I think it accidentally dropped twice already, but it came out kicking! Ahehehehe.
CONs* Small keyboard. Bad right-Shift key placement.
* Small LCD, low resolution. 800x480 maximum, but can be adjusted to a higher resolution using EEECtl, but will lose pixels in the process.
* Trackpad button. Due to my acidic sweat, the silver plating on the left button got tarnished. Ahahahaha.
* Easily heats. I have to use a netbook cooler underneath and an external fan (pointed at the heat vent on the side) to control the heat during hot days. Normal temperature was at least 55 degrees to a maximum of 65 degrees.
* Small 4GB SSD storage. Even with the 8GB model, it's too small. You'd have to boot programs off your SDHC.
* Issues with installing Linux distributions with a SSD in the mini-PCIe slot. This was an issue with mine, so it was either I went the Windows way, or the Linux way (without the 2nd SSD installed).
* The hinge looks ugly. Ahahahaha.
HP Mini 1109TUPROs* 92%-sized keyboard. Great for typing. Bigger right-Shift key under the Enter button, and above the directional keys.
* Bigger trackpad. Nicely-located mouse buttons on the side of the trackpad. I dunno, I just love it.
* Dedicated button to enable and disable the trackpad and mouse buttons. Great when you're typing.
* Bigger LCD with plastic lid. Bright LCD. Great glossy finish. I love it.
* Fancy-looking power and connectivity switches. Connectivity switch goes orange or blue depending whether it's enabled or disabled.
* Very sleek over-all design. It's pretty thin and elegant.
* Good sounds from the speaker. Love the speaker-hinge silver-lining.
* Great for Windows, Linux distros (especially Linux Mint, which works out of the box) and Mac OSX (though I have yet to OSX-ify mine... thanks to LeMaurien19 for the term. Ahehehehe).
* Outer shell looks great. Glossy finish, with silver swirls.
* Easily accessible memory slot.
* Small power brick, which is compact enough to fit into a bag.
* Already with Bluetooth, and pre-installed with XP SP3.
CONs* Only 2 x USB slots.
* No VGA port, though there's a VGA adapter that can be purchased (and of course, it'll cost you).
* Flimsy power and connectivity switches. What if the spring goes kaput?
* Glossy plastic lid covering the LCD is prone to smudges. I'm too lazy to clean mine.
* Hard to find a perfect fit netbook sleeve, except of course, the sleeve that's designed exactly for the HP Mini.
* Battery is located underneath, so higher-capacity 3rd-party batteries wouldn't sit well with the HP Mini, as compared to other netbooks. I'm just assuming. Ahehehehe.
* Webcam lighting sucks, so I'll probably have to remove the filter in-between one of these days.
* Only 80GB HDD, and it's the 1.8-incher, which isn't the standard, so I'm assuming it'll be harder to find cheaper storage upgrades.
* Microphone-headphone combo jack is annoying. You can only use one function at a time. Would have been better if they split it into 2.
