The netbook addict in me strikes again After hearing that S10-3T is already available locally, I went to Lenovo store in SM annex and with the help of my favorite Lenovo staff Rey, I was able to get it. It's P29,990 12mos 0% which amounts to around P2,500/month for the next 12 months. Not bad. As soon as I got home, unboxing commenced right away. I went straight to taking pictures of the unit itself (literal unboxing is getting boring ). Here are the pics!


The Rain Flower Pebble lid design is too girly for me. It even looks like flowers from afar LOL


The left and right bezels are THICK! Probably to act as handle when in tablet mode.


The only thing I hate; the white keyboard (I have sweaty hands!)


The screen is WIDE! It has a ratio of 16:9 which is very good for watching movies! The drawback though is the screen glare. I need to put a non-glare screen protector on it. The touch screen is also capacitive now (as against to resistive) which means it's the same as the one used on iPhone. No need for a stylus. In fact, stylus won't work on a capacitive screen (older resistive screen needs stylus for it to work). Just let your finger do the pointing, flicking, and inking.




Buttons for mute, rotation, and the other one which I haven't found out yet LOL


The power button with safety lock hatchet to prevent accidental pushing especially in tablet mode.






The palm rest is coated with textured finish which prevents smudges (nice!)


It swivels 180 degrees either way. The screen also opens a full 180 degrees as well!


Backpanel has a textured finish as well, with a rough carbon fiber texture finish!

Six screws and the back panel plate comes off. Easy for the upgraders (HDD and RAM). There's also the usual mini pci-e slot for the WWAN (3G modem). But take a look, it has the 3G antenna pre-installed! All you have to do is plug in a compatible WWAN modem and you've got yourself a true mobile, internet connected tablet netbook! The battery is just the 4-cell type which according to my initial testing, goes at least 3.5 hours. I have yet to test it with a battery tester. Blogs says it can go up to 4.5 hours with minimum settings. The 8 cell battery (not yet available) claims to have a 10 hour capacity but actual testing only yields for about 6-6,5 hours. This is understandable given the fact the the touchscreen panel also consumes a fair amount of power. The 4-cell is flushed to the body, while the 8-cell sticks out fairly ugly at the back, though it acts as a good handle when in tablet mode.








The 6-in-1 card reader with its pull-out-but-hanging-plastic-cover. That cover is pretty annoying. It gets in the way when inserting an SD card. I would rather get the older pull out dummy sd-card-cum-cover on the S10-2.




Right side with the 2 USB ports, VGA port, wireless switch, and a TV tuner antenna port! I'll bet the extra mini pci-e slot is not exclusive to the 3G modem anymore. I guess a compatible mini pci-e tv module (AverMedia or Yuan) will fit there nicely too!

The decorated lid design is a bit too girly for me but does a good job of hiding finger prints

It came with a starter edition of Windows 7. It sucks since you need at least a Home Premium to get the most of the Windows 7 tablet functions. The good thing is, it's very easy to upgrade. Just click the Windows Anytime Upgrade link in the Start Menu, enter your Home Premium key, and after 20 minutes and a couple of reboots later, your upgrade is done! No need to reformat/re-install windows!




The trackpad is now very Apple-like. No more track pad key. The whole track pad is the key! Just press the bottom left for left click, and bottom right for the right click. You need to disable tap-to-click though before you can do the click and drag thing with two fingers otherwise the cursor gets all over the place. It takes a while to get used to.

matagal ko nang kino-consider ang tablet-pc and ito nang s10-3T ang nakita kong can afford hehe. ask ko lang kung sulit ba ang touch feature nitong s10-3t? may mga compromises ba? much better ba ang capactive kaysa resistive? and more importantly, okay ba sya for presentation?

compared to my hp tablet before which had a resistive screen, capacitive screens are much more responsive, much like my iPhone. Resistive screens need stylus while only your finger is needed on capacitive screens. Set your icons to single click, and it looks like you have a big itouch in your hand hehehe

As for presentation, it's better than using the track pad.
