AMD RS690E Chipset
and
ATi Radeon HD3200
?

RS690E (Embedded) has DX 9.0c-compliant Radeon X1200-series (refreshed X700) on board and not DX 10.1-compliant HD 3200.

Update:

Specs from MSI...

Not sure about the chipset... cut & paste lang from an ad from PC Corner... :-?

But the U230 is sure to have it's video powered by Ati Radeon HD3200. ;)

True, but the U230 does have it's drawback. Mainly the power hungry HD3200 video chipset will definitely affect battery life. So for those who want longer battery life, the U200 might be the better choice.

But for those who would like to do mods, overclocking/underclocking, hack and tweaking their netbooks beyond the manufacture's specifications, yes, the U230 would be one of the netbooks of choice for 2010.

For sure, the experience already gathered overclocking the U210x with AMD Neo 1.6ghz cpu to 2.0ghz speeds will be a boost for those planning to buy the U230 model.

There are even some already selling their months old MSi Wind12 U210x on TipidPC.

I've read that u230 has no 3g modem from people who purchased it, just a sim slot.

That is what I feared, it was just another "optional" spec that the local dealer preferred not to get.

based on the review, this is the best AMD ultra-portable currently available IMO...

Hi all, first post to this forum.

Just want to share my experience if you dont mind.

I had a bad luck with the U230. First time to buy a netbook and it turned bad. X(

Anyway, I purchased the U230 just when it was released last week. It worked well until last night when I turned it on, the screen is just all white. When I attached it to a external monitor, the external monitor is working. It must be something between the board and the LCD, ribbon wire perhaps.

I called the store I bought it from and said to send the unit to them. I called the service center and they said to send it directly to them to shorten the turnaround time. So I decided to send it directly to the service center via LBC. I live in Cebu and purchased the U230 in manila.

So guys, please confirm if this is the real MSI service center just in case. :-s
